The following are Cajun symbols that were used primarily by painter, George Rodrique. These symbols will be familiar to Cajun children and adolescents and can be used in collage making, drawing activities or storytelling.

The Oak Tree, The Blue Dog, Cajun Landscapes, The Mask

Ask the youngsters you are working with:

  • What do these symbols mean to you?
  • How do these symbols remind you of Louisiana?
  • How can these symbols represent a sign of strength?
