Candlelight vigils as well as prayer are rituals that the Cajun/Creole culture practices during times of great stress or when a loved one dies.

Encouraging school-aged children and adolescents to write a prayer or light candles inhonor of their families or lost neighborhoods etc., would be a helpful activity for youngsters during this time.
